Day 01: Arrival

Arrival at Muscat International airport and transfer to Muscat Hotel of your choice.

Day 02: Muscat – Jebel Shams

Breakfast; at 08.00 h depart Muscat for Nakhl, home to a magnificent for rising out of the Rocky Mountains and towering above this small town. You visit a date plantation before arriving at Wadi Bani Auf where you will have the chance to enjoy a short trek to the ambiance. A picnic lunch will be served.

After lunch travel anward to Nizwa crossing Western Hajar mountain range. The road winds through the cliffs, valleys and steep mountain walls until you reach Jebel Shams, the highest peak of Western Hajar mountain range. Check in at Jebel Shams mountain camp which is located on the edge of the great canyon of Oman where you will enjoy breathtaking views.

Day 04: Nizwa

Breakfast at Jebel Shams view camps restaurant 08.00 hr check out and depart.

Today you will meet your local guide at the camp and set off for a full day trekking tour. Visit the remote village of Wadi Nakar and and Wadi Gul ( Grand Canyon of Oman ), Al-Hamra and Misfah, one of the oldest villages in Oman. The Falaj system used in this village is one of the oldest of this kind. You will also visist Al Hoota caves, one of the largest natural caves in the world. At the end of your trek, drive to Nizwa.

Day 05: Nizwa – wahiba Sands

Breakfast then visit the famous Round Tower Fort of Nizwa probably one of the best architectural forts in Oman. Afterwards you will visit Nizwa souq where traditional Omani items are sold. Your next stopis Bahla, the mystical village known for Arabian Potteries, here you will visit one of the pottery making units ( closed on public holidays and Fridays ). You will then Jabrin Castle which was built in the 17th century and has magnificent plasterwork, wooden carvings, and painted ceilings this caslte amazing different ( just for photo stop )

Day 06: Wahiba Sands – Al Ashkharah

Breakfast, then depart for Jebel Akhdar “The Green Mountain”. We proceed to Wadi Al Madeen from here a 36 klm stretch of winding road takes on to Jebel Akhdar ( 2000 m above sea level ) the green jewel of the Al Hajar mountain ranges, a truly unique spot in the Arabian Peninsula.

Walk along the Roses Villages ( 2 hrs )

On the slope of the Jebel Akhdar, on top of Wadi Al Mayadeen lay the villages of Al Ayn Al Aqoor and Sharegah. They grow among other plants roses and pomegranates. The roses lower in March and April; walking in the gardens at this time is an enchantment for the eyes and the famous for their enormous size.

Enjoy the cool climate up in the mountains. Jebel Akhdar is famed for its fruit orchards typically laid out terrace style alongs of slopes of mountains, which are endowed ith natural springs and aflaj. The villages of Saiq , Wadi Bani Habib ( the village of the old houses ) & Al Ain dot the landscape. We depart for the Wahiba Sands a vast mass of undulating red and white sea of sand dunes rising upto 200 metres which are host to a variety of flora and fauna the everchanging patterns of the dunes are a photographer’s delight.

Day 07: Al Ashkharah – Khuwaima

We start morning at 07.30 h from camp, walk across the wonderful sand dunes and come back to the car around noon. In the desert, the walk time is only informative and we can adapt the length of the stages accordingly to the group

Enjoy a spot of dune driving in the Wahiba Sands, Take a turn off the main road to the scenic Wadi Bani Khalid with its deep blue pools of water fringed by the date palms which in an ideal spot to relax or enjoy a refreshing swim. Later drive to Al Ashkharah

Day 08: Khuwaima – Ras Al Had

Breakfast, then proceed to for a 2 hours walk along Al Ashkharah Beach. You have on option to enjoy unique hotel activities (snorkeling, fishing, quad bikes etc… )

Late afternoon we transfer to Khuwaima, where we wild camp overnight ( incl. dinner)

Day 09: Sur to Muscat via coastal road

Breakfast, at 12.00 hrs we proceed to Ras Al Had and check into the hotel.

At night we have a short drive to the Ras Al Jinz Scientific & visitor Centre where are escorted to the beach by trained guides to watch the turtles nesting on the sands.

Day 10: Muscat

After breakfast, proceed to Sur and visit to the Sur Dhow Factory. Our next stop is the ruins of Bibi Miriam’s Tomb ( photo stop ) can be seen at the village of Qalhat. ( hiking and swimming in Wadi Tiwi ) We start from the village of Saymah. We follow an old donkey path above palm trees until we arrive another village. We then walk at the bottom of the wadi, on the falaj, along the river or between boulders. We stop for a delightful swim surrounding by cliffs and palm trees. Then we start to climb across terraces until we reach the village of Mibam. We the use another way down to the second village. We finally come back using the same way and make a last stop before we arrive for another refreshing bath in a lovely turquese pool. Our next stop is the Bimah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with blue green water at the bottom. On clear sunny days while driving along the coast one might chance to see sharks in the deep blue water or fleet footed Gazelle sprint across the landscape. Return Muscat & overnight at a hotel of your choice.

Day 14: Salalah – Empty Quarter

Breakfast. SPLENDOURS OF DHOFAR ( 4 HRS – 180 KLM – Am Tour ) Salalah West : We start our half day exploration of Dhofar by driving towards the Qara mountains. On a road steadily winding up a steep incline, herbs of Camels & Cattle are a common sight which gives a scenic view of a traditional dhofari rural beauty . Visit the ancient Tomb of Prophet Job’s situated in the scenic green mountains of Salalah Plains. Experience the legendary story of Prophet Job and his devoutness. Proceed to the Mughsail beach where the white sand touches the deep blue of the ocean & at high tide where waves burst through the natural titanic “Blow Holes”, at the far end of Rocky beach with a cave-like entrance, we thereafter continue along the Hairpin bend roads towards Western Boarder of Oman, with its breathtaking cliffs on either side to see the historical Frankincense trees growing in their natural habitat deep down in the valleys dotting the dry & craggy countryside. We take a short walk into the valleys to smell the Holy Incense amidst the scenic view of the region. On our return journey we make a photo stop at the Mughsail lagoon where migratory birds – occasionally flamingos – are a common sight.

Day 15: Empty Quarter back to Mirbat

Breakfast , It is absolute must for everyone who is visiting Dhofar, that you visit Ar Rub Al Khali ( the empty Quarter), Dhofar’s most remarkable and popular site with its upspoilt and magical sand dunes. We recommend it highly and you will take an unforgettable memory to share with your family and friends back home. We will start our tour from your hotel. After having a small break in Thumrait town, which was famous as a Bedouin settlement, we proceed west on graded road crossing the huge gravel desert of ‘Al Nejd”. Arriving the sand desert in Al Hashman, where the sand dunes emerge more picturesque and more spectacular, our experienced driver will drive up the hills in the most thrilling and exciting manner to show you an example of driving with force in the sand popular known as Dune Desert, In Rub Al Khali, enjoy the exciting and thrilling driving tactics in the fine sand of Arabian Desert. Enjoy a beautiful sunset over the sand dunes before you reach ou campsite. You will also have the opportunity to ride a camel. Later you will be served a delicious B.B.Q dinner and Shisha ( the Arabic water pipe ) overnight stay in camp.

Day 16: Mirbat

After breakfast in the camp, proceed to the Lost city of UBAR ( Unesco World heritage site. ) This legendary ancient kingdom, known as Ubar, wa said to have existed in in one of the the most inhospitable places on earth – a vast and forbidding Rub Al Khali desert , appropriately known as the Empty Quarter.  Accordingly to myth, the desert swallowed up Ubar. Quite literally , it sank without trace- becoming the fabled “Atlantis of the Sands”. This one buried city, which was spotted by satellite, gives you a glimpse of the value of work carried out by a team of explorers in 1982, led by Sir Ranulph Fiennes. On our return to Salalah we drive into Wadi “DAWKA” ( Unesco World heritage site) known as the Frankincense Wadi, which is also well-known as the biggest collection of the naturally frown Frankincense trees in the region. Experience the Frankincense and its use the past as well as in the modern World.  Return to Salalah by afternoon.Overnight stay at Marriott Beach resort.

Day 17: Mirbat

Breakfast. HISTORICAL DHOFAR ( 4 HOURS – 150 KLM – Am Tour ) Salalah East : The excursion begins with a visit to the old fishing village of Taqah famous for the manufacture of Dried Sardines, its traditional & old Dhofari Houses. Visit the century old Taqah castle, the former official residence of the Wadi ( Givernor ) of the region & obtain a glimpse into the rich history of the region. Continue onto the ancient ruins of the once famous city of Sumharam ( KhorRori ) . The city was the easternmost outpost of the Hadramawt Kingdom on the ancient incense route between the Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf and India. KhorRori was an important port on the coast of Dhofar, and one of the major trading cities with Frankincense (Unesco Word Heritage site). A picturesque drive then leads you to Mirbat, the ancient capital of Dhofar and the beginning of the Frankincense trail. Stroll through the streets lined with old Omani mud houses & visit the twin domed Bin Ali’s Tomb as a photo stop…..  a classic example of Ayn Razat, beautiful laid out amidst the tranquil lush mountains & nourished every day of the year by natural underground spring water.

Return to the hotel by late noon.

Breakfast. SALALAH CITY HIGHLIGHTS. ( 3 hours – 50 kilm – Am tour )

We leave the hotel at 09.00 hr & proceed to visit the Museum of the Frankincense land. Opened in July 2007 at Al Baleed Archaeological Park, a Unesco heritage site located in Salalah, the Frankincense Land Museum is the latest addition to Omani’s heritage and cultural scene. (open time : Sat –Ed 08.00  to 14.00  & 16.00 to 20.00 ) Friday  16.0 to 20.00 . It houses two main halls, namely the Historical Hall, depicting the geography, history of the ancient Frankincense trail and the marine Hall featuring of the Sultanate through a number of Oman’s rich marine history. A complete history of the Maritime trade & ship building industry of Oman could be experienced here, with meticulously carved replicas of the ancient boats & ships of the Omani Maritime trade. Drive through lush green plantations of the vegetables & fruits. Make a brief stop to taste a fresh coconut water drink at the fruit stalls (at own cost) lining the streets within the periphery of the old Salalah Town ( Haffah ). Make a photo stop at the impressive Sultan Qaboos Mosque. View the official Palace of his Majesty the Sultan (Al Husn Palace) & stroll through the old Haffah Souq, famous for the sale of high quqlity Franincense & numerous other Dhofari traditional souvenirs. Visit the new Salalah region of the gold/silver souq, with ample opportunity for shopping, before we return to the hotel.

Then drop off Salalah airport for your flight back to Muscat airport and transfer to hotel of your choice.

Day 20: Muscat

Day 21: Departure

Breakfast , 09.00 hrs, Muscat offers the visitor a unique opportunity to witness a modern commercial centre existing in harmony with its traditional culture. With its harbour, Muscat means “Anchorage” & lies in a natural volcanic bowl. Our tour of the Grand Mosque (except Friday ). From here we will take you to one of most beautiful houses in Oman – Bait Al Baranda Museum, which was constructed in 1913 by Nacib Khan, a famous business man from Muscat. Here you will discover the remarkable history and geology of your travel destination.

Next stop is Muttrah, here you will join BIG BUS TOUR, with magnificent views from an open top bus and the Big Bus tour is the perfect introduction to the capital city of Oman. The carefully designed route takes you to the major landmarks and historic sights, while your personal recorded commentary (available in six languages ) provides entertaining commentary which explains the history and culture of the city. ( 2 hrs driver )

Once back will proceed with our driver to local restaurant for Omani lunch. Later at 15.30 hrs will drive to Sidab where proceed to Marina Bandar Al Rawdha for your boat trip through coastal area and enjoy Sea Sunset.

Last but not least will have a stop at Muttrah Souq for your Shopping and later enjoy your dinner at Automatic restaurant on the way back to hotel & overnight.
